THE GOAL
In 2017, in under 24 hours, almost the entire forest was burned in a wildfire. Before the wildfire, this was a glorious forest of old growth pines and other trees and was a place for many nature-based activities. The reforestation effort will focus on opportunities to restore soil fertility and to enhance the local water cycle by planting endemic, fire resistant/resilient plants.
This project supports the recovery of biodiversity that in turn supports ecosystem resilience and adaptation to climate change.
